Dermal fillers

Dermal fillers are a safe and non-surgical treatment to smooth out facial wrinkles and folds.  They are made from hyaluronic acid which is a naturally occurring substance found within the skin that plays a vital role in hydrating your skin and replenishing its natural volume.  Hyaluronic acid diminishes as we age, contributing to the wrinkles and folds.

Types of dermal fillers offered at Dèjá Vu Skin & Vein Center.

At Dèjá Vu Skin & Vein Center, we offer, Juvéderm Ultra XC and Juvéderm Ultra Plus XC.  The main difference between the different fillers is the size of the molecule of hyaluronic acid.  The Juvéderm Ultra Plus contain a larger molecule of hyaluronic acid making it more beneficial to treat deeper folds.

How do dermal fillers work?

Dermal fillers are an injectable gel.  Although anesthesia is not required, a topical or injectable anesthesia can be used to numb the area being treated.  Typical areas of treatment are the "laugh lines," "smile lines," "parenthesis" (nasolabial folds) or the "marionette lines" (oral commissures).  Dermal fillers on average last six months to one year, which may vary from one individual to another.

What are dermal fillers used for?

Dermal fillers help to restore the hyaluronic acid to smooth out the wrinkles and folds.  Typical areas of treatment are the "laugh lines," "smile lines," "parenthesis" (nasolabial folds), or the "marionette lines" (oral commissures).  Dermal fillers are used to reduce or eliminate wrinkles, raise scar depressions, enhance lips, and replace soft-tissue volume loss.

How often is treatment needed?

Treatment is recommeded every 6-12 months and varies from individual to individual.
